Obituary of Joseph D. Negro

Joseph D. Negro of Glenolden, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on May 6, 2020.

Joe was born December 8, 1937 in Philadelphia, the son of the late Paul and Rose (nee Licata).He grew up in South Philadelphia with his parents, sister, & 2 brothers. After graduating from vo-tech for tailoring, he joined the Navy and served on the destroyer the U.S.S. Coney. He operated the radar that directed the guns on the destroyer and served during the anti-submarine mission with NATO in the English Channel. Joe went to work at his father's business, Paul's Auto Radiator, located in Collingdale PA. Shortly afterwards, he met his wife Dorothea and they had 4 children. After his father passed, Joe & his brother's took over and moved the business to Glenolden. After more than 60 years in business, he retired. Joe enjoyed fishing, drawing, cooking seafood, dancing, doing magic tricks, travelling and spending time down the shore with his wife, children & grandchildren who he cherished.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Dorothea Negro (nee Green), his children Karen (Tom) Campbell, Paula, Chris (Beth), Valerie (Dave) Freed, his grandchildren Christopher Jr, Matthew, Daniel, Jack & Olivia, his sister Marie Mansor and brother's Richard & Robert.

A funeral Mass celebrating Joe's life will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, September 19, at St. George's Catholic Church, Lamont Ave., Glenolden PA 19036.

Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30AM on Saturday, September 19. at McCausland Garrity Marchesani Funeral Home, 343 S. Chester Pike, Glenolden PA 19036.

Burial: Private
